Prince Charles of Wales, 71, has partnered his charity the Prince’s Foundation with the Italian firm Yoox Net-a-Porte, own by Federico Marchetti, with the objective of creating a sustainable and luxurious clothing line for both men and women. This collaboration is formed by Italian Politecnico di Milano who will take care of this collaboration is formed by Italian Politecnico di Milano who will take care of the design of the looks, and UK students formed at Textile Training Centre on the Dumfries House estate in Scotland, whose job is to confection the clothing.
In the words of Federico Marchetti, CEO of the Italian brand, the idea came from the passion of educating and discovering new talent in the newer generations. He states that this collection brings classical artisan and mixes it with the new technology.
Even though the prince hasn’t been involved necessary in the design, he was really committed to the idea of the project and wanted to be the face of this sustainable collection. "At the same time, the textiles industry contributes something like 1.2 billion tons of greenhouse gas, which horrendously - and surprisingly - is more than the entire aviation and shipping sectors” stated Prince Charles according to Express.
Been a luxurious collection and due to the quality of the products and material used, the prices would vary between cotton shirts at over £630 and blazer suits at nearly £2000 to put some examples. However the astronomical princes haven’t pleased everyone, although similar price tags can be found on other luxurious brands, so the potential customer being people with high income and aiming to contribute to the ending of pollution will be more
than excited about this collection.
